Polarizer, UV filter and mist.
The mist covers your pictures of a white veil ? Three techniques (…)
The mist is not always a desired effect on your pictures. It covers nice views of its white veil. Here are some solutions to obtain photographs without this effect :

A polarizer is a filter that you screw forward your lens. The glass of this filter deletes all reflects from windows or water and saturates colors. Skies will look more coloured and mountains will go out of mists. A polarizer divides the quantity of light that enters in the lens by 2, 4 and even 6. If the sky is really blue when you walk on mountains, the polarizer will saturate so much this color that your picture will looks supernatural.

This filter reduces the effects of atmospheric mists and kills UVs. Modern lenses are well-protected against UVs. This filter is oftenly used to protect the lens against scratches.

The volume of damp depends on the moment of the day and on the wheather. That is why the atmoshpere doesn't contain damp or dust after rains. You will have the same result in winter with a dry and cold weather. In mountains, the mists are close to the ground during the morning. Its effects can be well-exploited for your pictures. Later on, scattered damps don't have much significance. The light at noon makes things worse. You will have to wait till the evening to get better conditions.

If a white veil is still present, you can correct your pictures : Work on levels, contrast and the saturation of the veiled area.
